"The gravity and evil of abortion ... must serve to eliminate certain candidates from consideration. "
“But contrary to what some may think,
I do not believe that the grave evil of abortion necessitates loyal to one party.
However, the gravity and evil of abortion,
that is the taking of innocent human life on an industrial scale,
can in fact and must serve to eliminate certain candidates from consideration.
Support for a major political candidate,
despite that candidates open and zealous support for the right to slaughter unborn children in the womb,
can only be justified when another issue takes immediate and compelling precedence.
And frankly, I know of no such issue. None.
The scale of abortion and the absolute defenselessness of its victims
point to the rationality of our bishops who in "Faithful Citizenship"
indicate clearly that abortion is in fact the preeminent issue of consideration when evaluating candidates.
Abortion takes precedence over other issues that are real - that are real and challenging,
even other evils - evils that must be confronted and seen through the lens of faith.”
