Funeral Homily - Fr. Dave Pivonka - "And because of Jesus' death and resurrection, the power of death has no power over Mark."

“And I wonder what it must have been like for him to hear the voice of Jesus cry out, “Lazarus! Come out!”

And I imagine that my brother Mark has heard that same voice. “Mark! Come out! Mark! Come out!”

Because death is not the end. 

And because of Jesus' death and resurrection, the power of death has no power over Mark. 

And in the same way Lazarus heard him called literally out of death into life,

Mark hears the same thing and he hears his voice and he hears his name. 

He says. “Mark! Come out of death!”

Because the power of Christ and the power of his resurrection has defeated 

once and for all the power of death over us.”
